GENRE: Contemporary Paranormal Erotic Romance

BLURB:

Abandoned at three—whose parents want a kid who sees ghosts?—I learned the world is quick to punish misfits. I try my best to be a normal, boring human, but the call of the supernatural just won’t be ignored.

When a stranger shows up on my doorstep in the middle of the night, it’s no sexy tryst. Instead, I’m off to the graveyard, digging up the corpse of a murder victim at the demand of the local vampire coven—and that small felony is just the start.

The spirit of the woman has gone missing, something that shouldn’t be possible, and everyone is looking to me for answers. There’s Kase, a vampire who’s both terrifying and secretive. Grant, a mage with a bad attitude and a lot of power. Troy, the possessive werewolf-detective next door and Hunter, a mysterious bad boy who isn’t even close to human.

It’s a race not just against time but against everything to figure out where the spirits are going, who’s behind it and if I can trust the men who now share my bed.

And all because of a little grave robbing…

Excerpt Three:

“You need to do something,” I said as Kase and Troy struck a wall and knocked off a painting. Sure, it was a cheap one I’d picked up at a chain store, some mass-produced image of cherry blossoms I’d always thought would make me a calmer person, but it was my stupid painting and they’d ruined it!

“You’re right.” Grant snapped his fingers, whispering a few words.

The two fighting seemed unaffected, however, as Troy flung Kase off him and Kase sailed back, almost faster than my vision could follow.

I was about to tell Grant it hadn’t worked when I realized he had a bowl of popcorn now.

Had he really used his magic to summon popcorn? Hunter reached over me to grab a handful.

“You said you couldn’t use magic for frivolous things,” I stammered.

“I can’t.”

“You used it to get popcorn!”

Grant lifted the popcorn as though to make a point. “This isn’t frivolous, Ava. There is a man-on-man fight here—that requires snacks to properly watch. Get your priorities straight.”

My mouth hung open. Every time I thought I had my feet under me with these men, they showed me how wrong I was.

“They could kill each other,” I finally said.

“Sure, but they won’t.” Hunter stole another handful of popcorn and tossed some in his mouth, a few pieces falling to the couch. “Troy hasn’t fully shifted and Kase isn’t biting. This is just one of those macho alpha dominance shows. Let’s all be glad they’re doing this instead of actually measuring dicks. Trust me, that just hurts feelings.”

INTERVIEW

What group did you hang out with in high school?

I’ve never had a very close circle of friends, and I moved between groups quite often. I spent time with the artists, with the loners, with the nerds. My hobbies and interests changed often, and because of this, I made friends with people in a lot of different groups and then spent time in each of them. I can’t say I belonged to any of them, that I had a place in them, but being able to go from one to another was, in many ways, a lot better of an option for me!

What are you passionate about these days?

I hyperfocus bad. For those who don’t understand this term, it has to do with ADHD. I get super passionate about things for a while and then move on to other hobbies or topics, which means my passions change. Ones I’ve had recently include rock climbing, yoga, painting, jewelry making, coffee, fallout figure collecting, puzzles and for a very odd few weeks erotic candle making. The most long-lasting things I am passionate about include ADHD and autism awareness, education and understanding.

If you had to do your journey to getting published all over again, what would you do differently?

I would have had more confidence in myself sooner. Don’t get me wrong, I believe that I took many years to hone my craft, and that those years were invaluable. However, I also spent a very long time stuck, believing I would hit some point of perfection where I’d be ready, that I would come up with an idea that would be epic and far reaching and exactly what I needed to write. What I had to eventually learn was that no one is perfect, that there wasn’t going to be that one, perfect story idea, and that there is no end path to becoming a writer. We don’t have a finish line where we are suddenly great and stop learning. It is a continual quest, so I was waiting for an end that wouldn’t come. I sacrificed so many years to my own self-doubt, and I wish I’d realized sooner that I deserved to be proud of my work.

Ebook or print? And why?

Ebook all the way! I worked at a bookstore for many years, so I have all the love for physical books. However, I also hate clutter. The ability to have so many books on my kindle mean I have a virtually unlimited number of stories available to me, ones that I would be put on hoarders if I had physical copies of. To me, the story is what matters, not the format. It is the words, not the papers.

What is your favorite scene in this book?

There is a scene where Ava has fantasized about what being fed on by a vampire would feel like. She’s read the books, seen the movies, had the same erotic dreams as any other adult woman, so she has some high expectations. However, when she finds herself in that very position, it doesn’t exactly go the way she’d thought it would. I love the scene because I always find it fun when reality doesn’t live up to the hype we create, and in this case, Ava has no problems telling the vampire that he—and the experience—is falling short of the promises she’d been made.
