Pistol Whipped

by Ashley Bostock

GENRE: Contemporary Erotic Romance

She’d known him for forever…

Gabriella Crawford has been best friends with Logan since the 2nd grade, but that’s all they’d ever been…friends. Suddenly after 20 years, Gabbie starts to notice Logan in a different light. But sex has never been something Gabbie thought was great and it’s certainly not something worth risking a friendship over. Or is it?

He’d never really seen her until now… Logan Reeves should not be looking at his best friend’s breasts. Not even when he sees her modeling lingerie. But try as he might to stay in the ‘friend zone’ Logan can’t stop fantasizing about Gabbie. And when a business trip forces them to sleep in the same bed, all bets are off. Especially once Logan finds out Gabbie needs to be shown how good sex can be…

But is it too late?

Incredible sex might not be enough to keep these two together. Not when old secrets from the past and new career opportunities threaten to rip Logan and Gabbie apart forever.

Excerpt One:

He was brought out of his trance by Gabriella’s soft laugh.

“I was just thinking about something else,” he told her truthfully.

“Do you like those panties?” she nodded to the red ones in his hands. “That’s just a sample. Then I can decide if I will order more or not.”

Without thinking he asked, “Who samples them?”

She tilted her head and looked at him like he was an idiot, “Who do you think?”

Visions of Gabriella prancing around in these panties came to mind. He forcefully set them back down on the table and cleared his head.

“So do you need any help, then?” he cleared his throat, “with any painting or anything?”

Gabriella laughed, “Come hold this for me, please? What has gotten into you lately? Ever since the trouble with the credit union, you haven’t been acting like yourself. Is it still bothering you? Is there anything you want me to do to help you get through this?”

Again, her and the red panties.

He shook his head.

I love a good friends to lovers story.  In fact, I can honestly say that’s how my husband and I were in the beginning.  Friends, lovers and now married with a child.  Of course, our story took 4 years to come true.

Logan and Gabriella are a great couple.  No, I didn’t read the other stories in the series and honestly I don’t think you need to.  What really sets this story for me is the friendship.  They love each other enough to put up with each other throughout the years and with that, I felt like bashing their heads in when they tried to complicate things.  I should have know that my husband was the one for me but of course, I stalled and almost lost him.

Logan and Gabriella realize that too.  Took them awhile but the wait was worth it.  Sure sex can sustain any type of relationship but its the emotions, feelings and more importantly, friendship that comes out in the end.  Their banter with each other is top notch.  Ms. Bostock writes her dialogue like we would talk in real life.  Nothing is held back and with that the story flows much better, at least for me.

Logan has a decision to make and its not without complications.  Communication is key for these two but it takes a little time for them to realize that in the end.  Oh and the sex is sizzling but perfect for them.  Ms. Bostock knows how to write a sex scene and oh my…Logan…damn!

If you are looking for a great friends to lovers story, Ms. Bostock definitely delivers.  One question…how have I NOT heard about the series before.  I must get the other two books quick.

In Time for You

by Chris Karlsen

GENRE: Historical Romance

While horseback riding in the English countryside, sisters, Electra and Emily Crippen find themselves trapped in a tear in time. Thrown back to 1357 England and caught by a local noble, they are in a place that is home but as frightening and unfamiliar as an alien world would be. With no idea how the tear in time came about, the one thing they do know is: they must stay together and stay near to where the event took place in hopes of discovering the way back to their modern life. That certain need to stay together is the first certainty taken from them when one sister is forced to remain in England and one is sent miles away to Wales by royal order.

There is one other hope for help the sisters don’t know exists. It’s Electra’s lover, Roger Marchand. A time traveler himself, he never told her of his past. When he realizes what has happened to the sisters, he enlists the help of a scientist friend to help him open the suspected passageway through time. Any effort to save Electra and Emily will likely cost him his life. This was the time Roger came from, a time when his country, France, was at war with England. If he is discovered on English soil while searching for the sisters, he will either be killed or taken prisoner of war. Any risk is worth saving the life of the woman he loves.

Excerpt Two:

While she ate, the button on Electra’s sleeve fell out of the frog loop. She didn’t hook the button again, reaching for her wine instead. The sleeve pulled back from her wrist to expose her watch, which she hadn’t thought to remove.

“What is that?” Simon asked and pointed to her Seiko.

“A watch.” What a bizarre question. There wasn’t a corner of the planet that people didn’t recognize a wristwatch.

A frown slowly formed and he stretched across Emily and took hold of Electra’s hand to tug it toward him for a better look. He turned her hand over and in a matter of seconds had the clasp undone.

He brought the candle in front of his trencher closer and held the watch under it. “What do the numbers mean?”

“It’s a clock, a miniature timepiece you wear on your wrist.”

From his expression, the explanation puzzled him. “Do they not have candle clocks in this Greenland you claim you’re from?”

How to explain the abundance of various clocks to a man who apparently has no context for the anything beyond a candle clock or similar ancient means of telling time?

“Are you saying you’ve never seen a clock?” Emily asked.

“One like this? No, I have not.”

Emily bent her head nearer Electra and whispered, “Are you thinking what I am?”

“Sadly, yes.”

Simon ran his finger over the watch face. “These small digits, what is their meaning?”

“It’s the date and year: 5.14.15.”

He shook his head. “What year is 15?”

“2015, of course.”

“You are mad. It’s the year of our Lord, 1357.”

Excerpt 3

Kevin woke to knocking on his front door. He got out of bed and had the presence of mind to put on a robe before opening the door partway to see who was banging at this hour of the morning. “Mrs. Vertebedian.”

“I heard you come in late last night, and since I made baklava, I thought I’d give you some.” She offered him a plate, and he took it gratefully.

“I love you,” he whispered, and the old lady giggled. “That’s so thoughtful.”

“You know, you shouldn’t stay out till all hours. I know it’s what you kids do, but did you see there was a fire at one of those places? I know you like to go out dancing and hunting for boys, but you should be careful.”

“I was there,” he said and stepped back from the door, letting her in. Kevin had met her the day he’d moved in, and she was sweet, but very lonely. “How about I put on a pot of coffee and get dressed? Then we can sit down and eat ourselves into a delightful sugar coma, and I’ll tell you all about it.” He started the coffee and then padded to his bedroom and closed the door before pulling on clothes. When he returned, the apartment smelled of coffee, the scent enough to revive him a little. Kevin got two mugs, filled them, and handed one to his guest.

“Was it as bad as they said on the television?” she asked. Kevin placed milk and sugar on the table, and she began adding what she wanted. Lord, the amount of sugar she added was enough to turn him diabetic.

“I don’t know. I haven’t watched. The fire itself wasn’t a big deal. I put it out with the hose at the club. But someone was trampled in the panic, sort of a friend of a friend.”

“I suppose you would know him.” Kevin didn’t correct her. She didn’t need to know that there wasn’t a secret gayboy handshake or that every gay man didn’t knew every other one. It wasn’t worth the explaining, and she hadn’t meant anything by it.

“It was really sad. His boyfriend was there and lost track of him during the crush.” He sipped from his mug and closed his eyes briefly, letting the caffeine start to work its magic.

“I’m sorry, dear.” She sipped loudly and added some more milk before tasting again. Apparently it was to her liking now. “Did you say you put the fire out? Then you’re a hero.”

He shook his head. “I did what anyone would have done. The fireman said I did a good job, though.” Kevin didn’t mean to sigh, but he did. He leaned closer. “He was really cute and Scottish, I’d guess. His accent….” He rolled his eyes and held his breath, then blew it out. “Like buttah….”

“What’s his name?”

“I don’t know. In my mind I’m calling him MacDreamy Hotness, and let me tell you I’d love to see what he has under his kilt.” He cackled and Mrs. Vertebedian did the same. From her stories, she’d been a high-stepper in her youth. “But I got to see him in his fireman’s pants and a T-shirt. That was enough to start a fire.” He reached for one of the pieces of baklava and bit into it, humming at the numminess. “No one can make these like you.”

“Thank you dear,” she said, beaming, and then she ate one herself. “I used to have lots of people to bake for, but now they’re gone.”

Spotlight featuring The Viking’s Curse (Woodland Creek Series) by Xandra James w/a rafflecopter giveaway!

The Viking’s Cursethe viking's curse - xandra james

Xandra James
Release Date: 15th November 2015

Genre: paranormal romance
Tag Line: He was supposed to keep me alive after I was marked for death, but hiring the meanest Viking shifter in town might just kill me…

Woodland Creek Series.

30 Authors. 30 Shifter Stories.

I’m cursed. There’s no cure for what ails me. I’m part man, part draugar; a Viking warrior shifter who protects the dead. I’m a selfish bastard, numb to the world around me, surviving only to avenge my wife and mother’s murder. One emotion —anger—keeps me alive. At least, it did until I met TJ Knight and my icy heart began to beat once more.

I was all wrong for her yet I craved her in ways I never imagined. So making a deal with her to save that cute ass from a death mark probably wasn’t the smartest thing I’d ever done. If I could manage to keep my hands off her, I might just stay in one piece.

The other thing? It turns out we have a mutual enemy. If we can work together, we might be able to find and destroy him. Trouble is, now it seems I have to kill TJ to give her a chance at living. Killing was my favourite thing but bringing her back to life? Now that might prove a problem…

the viking's curse - teaser 4

The smell that lingered in the air from the absent dead body burnt my nostrils, but still I bent over the grave, got up close and personal with the empty coffin, attempting to work out who—or what—would want to be a body snatcher.

It hadn’t been taken long; I could still feel the buzz of bad energy. The stench wasn’t from the rotting corpse. Nope, it was due to the magic shifting around where the body had been. Yeah, I said magic and it was normal for me to smell the stuff.

You see, my name’s TJ Knight, and I work for Battle Security and have done so for almost eighteen months after being head-hunted while in the army. Battle Security was a department of the Catholic Church. I work for God, you might say.

You might also say I am quite unusual but I’m not really. There are a lot of people like me around if only you open your eyes and take a look. And I’ve certainly seen some shit. Magical beings—or wizards—are everywhere. Battle Security specialises in things that go bump in the night, and it’s all around you if you know where to look. And I know where to look. Or where to stick my nose.

Which is why I earn the big bucks for sniffing newly popped bodies, and get called out in the middle of a date.
