Is it time for me to step back from writing?

He pretty much sums up how I feel right now.  Dark, lonely and a bit sad.  I think that we could help each other out, don’t you think?  I’m home alone on Mother’s Day weekend.  Hubs is working both days and my mom isn’t feeling too well, so no trip to Dallas either.  😦  I could write but that loving feeling isn’t with me right now.  I know that I need to but the motivation just isn’t there.

My review blog is taking off right now.  Harlie has hired 6 reviewers and she will be introducing them with their first reviews in the next couple of days.  She needs the help if she wants to seriously write a book.

Well, as you know I don’t update this blog like I should and its rather sad looking.   I’ll try to be better about it.  Right now, I didn’t even place in a writing contest that I was pretty pumped up about.  It was a writing contest that you wrote a story start based on a picture.  It was menage and if I do say, I was proud of it.  Guess it wasn’t good enough.  Oh well…

This was my second erotic piece that I wrote and I don’t think I will try to write erotic again.  I’m thinking that I’m not cut out for it.  Here’s the link if you want to read it.

I’m waiting on a submission/with partial that I sent over a couple of days ago.  This particular story is sensual, not erotic.  I need to really write that story.  The characters are maddening right now and they really need to stop.  I’m getting a headache.  🙂  Maybe tomorrow when the house is quiet again.

I’m going to be participating in a writing challenge that Jodie (love her) from Riverina Romantics (great blog) has put together.  She is an aspiring writer like myself and fellow blogger/reviewer.   This is for fun.  Here’s the linkage if you are interested.

That’s all I have for right now.  Harlie needs to work on her other blog today and set some things up for next week.  Again, I will be better in the future.  Promise.

  1. You still sound pretty down. And being alone on Mother's Day sucks. I didn't read your erotic piece – I'm beat out tired from gardening and ache in every bone in my body. If you email it to me I promise I will – or remind me of this link on Monday.Writing might not be your thing right now – we all hit strange dry spells. I haven't written a book in 8 months. That's unusual for me. But I did a ton of critiquing and wrote blogs – but my story writing ability was gone. But it is slowly coming back. So don't be hard on your self. Red and write your reviews and something will trigger the writing bug.

  2. Daryl's right–you do sound really down still. I'm going through what you at the moment–just can't seem to find my motivation to write. I don't have writer's block or anything, just having a rough time sitting in front of my computer. Oh I can force myself, but what ends up on the screen is crap and needs to be deleted. Also, I have a lot of other things taking up space in my brain at the moment. Those things have to be taken care of first before I can lose myself in my writing. That much I know about myself. So my advice is, stop worry about the fact you're not writing. The more you let it bother you, the more it will elude you.I'm a huge gardener and Spring is a very busy time for me.

  3. Sweetie, There are going to be pitfalls, but don't forget that you love to write. It's fun for you. You have a passion for it. And being alone on Mother's Day is no good for an already down mood. I'm sending you giant hugs and whispering in your ear that tomorrow is a new day! Keep trying, because if not tomorrow, or even the next day, eventually it will be your day in the sun!!!! Nicole 🙂

  4. Harlie, hon,The important thing is that YOU were proud of your story. I've also found that the more distinctive your voice, the less likely it is you'll win contests, which tend to look for a kind of common denominator.Anyway – it's a sad fact that writing means being rejected sometimes. Outside validation is inconsistent; it can't keep you going. If the process doesn't give you joy, it's not worth doing. But if you love to write, the way so many of us do, then don't give up!Hugs – Lisabet
